When I got off the plane, through customs, and into the actual terminal in Atlanta, the first thing I did was call my mom, “I’m home, I’m in the US of A!” Like a good ol’ American. And then, I smelled it. Fried chicken. Then, I saw it, the bright lights of Popeye’s. And then I explained, “Fried chicken! Hey mom, I have to go!” Tasty, greasy, disgustingly American fried chicken. Don’t forget the biscuit and cole slaw. Yum

So, here’s a list of things I know I am going to miss about my time in Germany, and the things that I am enjoying getting back to.

My friends
The trees
Windows that you can crack or swing open
Being able buy balls of fresh mozzarella at any grocery store
The hearty bread
The lunch+coffees with co-workers
The ability to fall asleep and wake up in a completely new city a few hours later via train
Botanical Gardens
Playing live-and-learn with ingredients written in German
Pretzels
The most random signs
Photography and bike talks with Andrea
Food: Doner, tapas, etc.
Hearing the birds – not just in the morning, but all day long
Shopping opportunities
